Holy Week and Easter April 14 - April 21
Renewing ourselves to be more fully the body of Christ. Join Us!
We find in Holy Week the passage from darkness to light, from death to life, from Passion to Resurrection. As we journey together through the devotion of Holy Week we can participate, as author Shane Claiborne says, “in the resurrection as a movement about and for life.” In the midst of injustice, bloodshed, violence, empire, betrayal, indifference and racism, it gives hope to the victimized and the crucified peoples of our world. Revealed to us is a God who suffers with us, cries with us and hopes with us. The journey of Holy Week allows us to connect the passion of Christ to the world we live in today and to let our worship lead to action.
Sunday, April 14 10:00 AM
Passion of Christ: Palm Sunday
Hear the passion of the Christ from the gospel of Luke. The palms remind us of the people’s love for Jesus and his triumphal entry into Jerusalem - a love and triumph, which turned to rejection and indifference. We begin our worship with sweet Hosanna’s and then we are confronted with the Passion where ultimate love meets death on the cross.
Maundy Thursday, April 18 6:30 PM
Queen Anne Baptist Church
Co-hosted with Fremont Baptist Church, Queen Anne Christian Church and Seattle First Baptist Church
We will begin with a simple meal of soup and bread, followed by a Tenebrae service. Tenebrae means "shadows" and will will extinguish candles throughout the night, symbolizing the darkness of Good Friday. We will celebrate Communion. All are welcome, including children (we will have activity pages for them and they can participate in the service).
