We are called to "Love Thy Neighbor"
We recall Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5:9;
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Jesus' teachings compel us to work tirelessly for peace, justice, and reconciliation.
As members of the World Council of Churches, we condemn the actions of the United States government. We join in calling for restraint, respect, and renewed commitment to peaceful, multilateral engagement.

We offer our prayers for all communities impacted by the unilateral and unlawful decisions of our government. As churches committed to the gospel of peace, we grieve the loss, fear, and instability these actions have caused nationally and globally. These actions do not create the conditions for a safer or more peaceful world.

We Call for Truth, rejecting simplistic narratives provided by those who benefit from division, war and extraction of natural resources.
We Seek Discernment, praying the Holy Spirit grant the Church wisdom and courage to see and refute systemic evils and the adversity of Empires.
We Urge Action, calling on members to raise awareness and increase advocacy in response to the actions of the US government.
We Invite Prayer, calling on churches and individuals to join in praying with all people and communities affected by violence and instability.

May our collective witness and vision for peace inspire leaders to choose diplomacy over domination, cooperation over coercion, and peace over war.

We repent of the ways in which we as Christians benefit from the sin of White Christian Nationalism and condemn it as a distortion of the Gospel of Christ.

We acknowledge our privilege as we occupy the land of Seattle’s first people, past and present, we honor with gratitude this land and the Duwamish Tribe.

Queen Anne Christian Church:
124 Years of Ministry

Faithful-Hopeful-Loving

Welcome to Queen Anne Christian Church, born in the minds and labor of women in January 15, 1902 forming the Queen Anne Hill Christian Workers Society. We seek to continue their legacy of sharing Christ's Light with our neighborhood. We are a small progressive community of faith dedicated to following The Way of Jesus through worship and service. Click here to learn more about our long history.

Our worship is Sundays at 10AM, it is simple and traditional as we believe Church is a place of belonging and renewal. We hope when you join us you feel welcomed, connected and loved by us, and God.

Our Denomination: Christian Church Disciples of Christ

Our Beliefs:

As part of a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world, we proclaim to be part of the one body of Christ and welcome all as God has welcomed us. We do this through communion and baptism, our symbols and practices of unity.

Communion
The Lord’s Supper or Communion is celebrated weekly in worship. It is open to all who seek to follow Jesus Christ. The practice of Holy Communion is a central element of worship within the Disciples tradition. Disciples’ observance of the Lord’s Supper echoes the Passover feast, when Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples on the eve of his crucifixion. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the living Christ is met and received in the sharing of the bread and the cup, representative of the body and blood of Jesus. The presence of the living Lord is affirmed and he is proclaimed to be the dominant power in our lives.

Baptism
Baptism is a public act by which we proclaim God’s grace, as revealed in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, through the use of a visible sign of God’s gracious initiative and our individual response in faith. With other Christians we affirm that baptism is at once a divine gift and a human response.  The meaning of baptism is grounded in God’s redemptive action in Christ, it incorporates the believer in the community in the body of Christ, and it anticipates the new life when the purposes of God will triumph.

Just as the baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it symbolizes the death and burial of the old self of the repentant believer, and the joyous birth of a brand new life in Christ. The Disciples movement practices baptism by immersion though other forms of the ritual may be practiced as well.

Though baptism is a sacred ritual, it is not required for attendance, membership or participation.
ALL belong, are included and loved.

Pastor
Rev. Annie Carpenter  she/her/hers

Hey There! Welcome to the QACC website, I'm Pastor Annie and I've been the minister here since January 2023. My role as Pastor is to remind us of who we are: beloved children of God uniquely gathered and called.

I studied religion at Bethany College then earned my Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School. I went on to serve as a chaplain for hospitals, palliative and hospice care. I'm passionate about making faith, spirituality and questions around humanity relatable. I care deeply about social justice, creation care, reconciliation, and nurturing intergenerational connections.

I love exploring museums, coffee shops, music venues, pubs, karaoke bars, and of course, the beautiful outdoors.

I am available for officiating weddings and funerals.
